Real-time FocusMeter
|
The RFM System uses a quick and easy method to measure characteristics of the focal spot. You can do a complete measurement in just one minute! It is possible to study both the shape and size for different generator settings. Also the modulation transfer function, MTF, can be measured. Immediately after the exposure, all results will be shown on the computer screen.

Quick and Easy Method
With the RFM system it is possible
to study both the shape and size for different
generator settings. The greatest advantage of
using this technique is the speed. Only one
exposure is needed for each curve measurement.
You get the focal spot size and shape for this
specific exposure and not the mean value for a
numbers of exposures. The result of a measurement
is available "at once" and can be
examined and displayed on a computer screen,
without the time needed for film development and
scanning with a film densitometer. This makes it
possible to measure, for instance, the focal spot
width and length for different angles from the
radiation beam axis. With this method it is
possible to measure focal spot down to 100 µm.
Measuring method
|
The RFM is based on the slit method according to the IEC 336 recommendation. The 10 µm wide slit makes it possible to measure focal spot sizes down to 0.10 mm, according to IEC 336. The RFM also measures according to DIN 6823, and the NEMA XR-5 standards.

Automatic alignment
The RFM can be automatically aligned. With a specially designed alignment pattern, and four CCD arrays, the RFM determines its position in the beam. It also calculates the enlargement factor and the distance from the focal spot to the detector.
|
The RFM Pro
The RFM Pro consists of a modified Real-time FocusMeter (RFM) and the RFM Holder
Pro. In the RFM Pro the motors for xy-movement are removed. That makes
the positioning of the detector more accurate according to the tube
housing. The RFM Pro is intended for use of the RFM always mounted
in the holder.
